GOVERNOR PAWLENTY DECLARES PEACETIME EMERGENCY, ACTIVATES STATE EMERGENCY OPERATIONS CENTER -- August 2, 2007 |

| Governor Pawlenty signed an emergency executive order today declaring a peacetime emergency and activating the State Emergency Operations Center. The Governor has directed all State agencies to provide necessary assistance to help local, state and federal units of government respond and recover from the collapse of the Interstate 35W bridge spanning the Mississippi River in Minneapolis. The emergency executive order will remain in effect until the conclusion of the emergency. |

| Governor Pawlenty today signed an emergency executive order waiving certain restrictions for drivers of commercial vehicles engaged in the transportation of gasoline and of motor fuels. The emergency order will ease the distribution of gasoline across Greater Minnesota. |

| Governor Pawlenty today signed an emergency executive order waiving certain restrictions for drivers of commercial vehicles engaged in relief efforts to restore telephone service and other infrastructure within Cook County. Damage to Cook County's infrastructure was caused by the Ham Lake Fire last month, which burned approximately 75,000 acres. |

| Governor Pawlenty today signed an executive order authorizing the Minnesota National Guard to create the new Minnesota Achievement Ribbon, an award recognizing outstanding performance for members of the Minnesota National Guard while performing active duty assistance in the state of Minnesota, such as providing disaster relief for floods and forest fires. |
