GOVERNOR PAWLENTY SIGNS EMERGENCY EXECUTIVE ORDER DIRECTING MINNESOTA NATIONAL GUARD TO ASSIST IN SEARCH AND RECOVERY OPERATIONS ON LAKE MILLE LACS -- November 14, 2008
Governor Tim Pawlenty today signed Emergency Executive Order 08-17, directing the Minnesota National Guard to assist the Mille Lacs County Sheriff in a search and recovery operation on Lake Mille Lacs. On October 29, 2008, a person was reported missing and presumed drowned. The Mille Lacs County Sheriff has requested National Guard resources to continue its efforts to locate the missing person.

GOVERNOR PAWLENTY SIGNS EXECUTIVE ORDER UPDATING REPONSIBILITES OF THE GOVERNOR'S 21st CENTURY TAX REFORM COMMISSION -- November 7, 2008
Governor Pawlenty today signed Executive Order 08-16, updating the responsibilities of the Governor's 21st Century Tax Reform Commission. In addition to providing advice and recommendations to the Governor involving long-term improvements in business practices, the Commission will now review and consider, as part of its analysis, the changes to the Minnesota and national economy, the November economic forecast, and the Governor's proposed state budget. The Executive Order also requires the Commission to issue its report and recommendations to the Governor no later than February 15, 2009.

GOVERNOR PAWLENTY SIGNS EMERGENCY EXECUTIVE ORDER PROVIDING RELIEF FROM REGULATIONS TO MOTOR CARRIERS -- October 29, 2008
Governor Tim Pawlenty today signed Emergency Executive Order 08-15, providing emergency relief from regulations pertaining to hours of service for carriers and drivers of commercial motor vehicles while in the process of obtaining and transporting diesel fuel, propane and anhydrous ammonia for farm use. Without relief, farmers would not be able to obtain needed supplies of diesel fuel and propane to complete their harvest in a timely manner, resulting in loss of property and resources to Minnesota farmers. The Governor's Emergency Executive Order was needed to formally provide emergency relief from regulations to Minnesota motor carriers.

GOVERNOR PAWLENTY SIGNS EXECUTIVE ORDER CREATING EARLY CHILDHOOD ADVISORY COUNCIL -- September 25, 2008
Governor Tim Pawlenty today signed Executive Order 08-14, creating the State Advisory Council on Early Childhood Education and Care ("Early Childhood Advisory Council"). Federal law authorizes creation and assigns responsibilities to the advisory council. The 2008 legislature enacted a law to include legislators as members of the council, adding responsibilities and appropriating funds to support the council. The Governor's executive order was needed to formally create the advisory council and define the administrative parameters for the advisory council.

GOVERNOR PAWLENTY SIGNS EXECUTIVE ORDER REGARDING CENTRAL CORRIDOR -- August 13, 2008
Governor Tim Pawlenty today signed Executive Order 08-13 designating the Metropolitan Council as the entity responsible for planning, designing and constructing the Central Corridor Light Rail Transit line between downtown Minneapolis and downtown St. Paul. Under a state law passed this year, the Governor is required to designate either the Metropolitan Council or the Department of Transportation as the entity responsible for oversight of proposed light rail lines.

GOVERNOR PAWLENTY CALLS SPECIAL ELECTION TO FILL WERGIN AND LARSON SEATS -- July 14, 2008
Governor Tim Pawlenty today called a special election to fill the State Senate vacancies in Districts 16 and 63. The District 16 vacancy was created by the resignation of Senator Betsy L. Wergin, who Governor Pawlenty appointed to the Public Utilities Commission. The District 63 vacancy was created by the resignation of State Senator Dan Larson.
