Yes. There are new security measures in place for the 2026 legislative session. All visitors to the Capitol and the Minnesota Senate Building will be subject to security screening, whether entering from the tunnel or exterior doors. Allow extra time when planning your visit.
Visitors will be subject to additional security screening before entering the Senate and House galleries.
- In the Senate gallery, no firearms or dangerous weapons are permitted, even if you have a permit to carry.
- The House gallery screening follows the guidelines set forth by the Commissioner of Public Safety for screening into the Capitol.
