The Minnesota State Capitol building hours are:
- Monday – Friday: 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
- Saturday: 10:00 am – 3:00 pm
- Sunday: Closed
The Minnesota Senate Building is open Monday – Friday: 7:30 am – 5:00 pm during session, with reduced hours in the interim.
The State Office Building is temporarily closed to the public for construction.
Using the tunnel system may require keycard access. The tunnel between the State Office Building and the Capitol is temporarily closed during construction. The tunnel between the Minnesota Senate Building and the Capitol is open Monday – Friday: 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. The tunnels between buildings are open the same hours as the buildings they connect.
Please note: There are new security measures in place for the 2026 legislative session. All visitors to the Capitol and the Minnesota Senate Building will be subject to security screening, whether entering from the tunnel or exterior doors. Allow extra time when planning your visit.
Visitors will be subject to additional security screening before entering the Senate and House galleries.
- In the Senate gallery, no firearms or dangerous weapons are permitted, even if you have a permit to carry.
- The House gallery screening follows the guidelines set forth by the Commissioner of Public Safety for screening into the Capitol.
