If you need to learn how to communicate more diplomatically, communicate data more effectively, or come up with a creative solution, the library recently acquired three books to help you develop some of these professional “soft skills.”
Are you preparing data visualization components for an upcoming presentation or report? The author of Seeing with Fresh Eyes calls legends in line graphs “coffins of dead conventions.” They take up valuable real estate in the graph and force the reader to briefly memorize a color-code that has no practical durability. Tofte asserts that graphs are often more readable with content-responsive labels.
