Governor Tim Pawlenty today ordered that the United States flag and the State of Minnesota flag be flown at half-staff at the State Capitol from sunrise until sunset on Monday, July 2 in honor and remembrance of Pfc. Anthony D. Hebert who died a hero while protecting his country and fighting for freedom on June 21, 2007, in Baghdad, Iraq.
Whereas: Pfc. Anthony D. Hebert was born in Elgin, Illinois on June 30, 1987, to Robert and Laurie Hebert; and
Whereas: Pfc. Anthony D. Hebert graduated from Lincoln High School in Lake City in 2005, where he was active as a member of the Lake City golf team; and
Whereas: Pfc. Anthony D. Hebert enlisted in the United States Army in 2005; and
Whereas: Pfc. Anthony D. Hebert was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division; and
Whereas: Pfc. Anthony D. Hebert was a devoted soldier and selfless leader. He loved serving his country and did so with great pride; and
Whereas: Pfc. Anthony D. Hebert died a hero fighting for freedom on June 21, 2007, in Baghdad, Iraq, while serving in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom; and
Whereas: Pfc. Anthony D. Hebert is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Phillip Hebert; and
Whereas: Pfc. Anthony D. Hebert is survived by his parents, Bob and Laurie Hebert; his sisters Erin and Tiffany Hebert; his grandmother, Sue Hebert; his grandparents, Robert and Emma Klinnert; and many other friends and family who loved him dearly and will miss him greatly; and
Whereas: A visitation for Pfc. Anthony D. Hebert will be held Sunday, July 1, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City, Minnesota; and
Whereas: A funeral service for Pfc. Anthony D. Hebert will be held Monday, July 2, 2007, from 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lake City, Minnesota. Interment will full military honors will follow immediately; and
Whereas: The State of Minnesota thanks Pfc. Anthony D. Hebert for his dedicated service to the people of this country and our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.
Now, Therefore, I, Tim Pawlenty, Governor of Minnesota, do hereby order all U.S. flags and Minnesota flags be flown at half-staff at the Capitol Complex, including state buildings, monuments, and grounds in proximity to and including the Minnesota State Capitol, from sunrise until sunset on Monday, July 2, 2007, in honor and remembrance of Pfc. Anthony D. Hebert.
