GOVERNOR PAWLENTY APPOINTS THOMPSON TO THE BOARD OF PSYCHOLOGY -- August 20, 2003
 

Saint Paul -- Governor Tim Pawlenty today announced the appointment of Herman (Ted) Thompson to the Board of Psychology.

Thompson, of Minneapolis, is a family therapist in private practice. He was previously employed at African American Family Services and at the Phyllis Wheatley Community Center. He is a licensed psychologist (LP) at the master's degree level and has worked in the psychology and counseling field for over 25 years. He received a B.A. in Psychology from Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia. Thompson studied for a Ph.D. in Developmental and Counseling Psychology at the University of Minnesota, and holds a Master's degree equivalency from the University's College of Education, Counseling and Student Personnel Program. He is appointed as a master's level licensed psychologist on the board and will serve a four-year term ending January 1, 2007. Thompson replaces Ralph Maves on the board.

The Board of Psychology is responsible for licensing and disciplining psychologists. The board is made up of 11 members appointed by the Governor.
