GOVERNOR PAWLENTY APPOINTS THREE TO THE BOARD OF EXAMINERS FOR NURSING HOME ADMINISTRATORS -- May 15, 2003
 

Saint Paul -- Governor Tim Pawlenty today announced the appointment of Chandra Mehrotra, and the reappointment of Robert Letich and Catherine Lloyd to the Board of Examiners for Nursing Home Administrators.

Robert Letich, of Plymouth, is currently the owner of Camden Care Center, a 44 bed skilled long term care facility, in Minneapolis. He has previously served as the CEO of the Augustana Home of Minneapolis, the state's largest nursing home campus. He also teaches health care management at the University of Minnesota. He is a licensed Nursing Home Administrator. He received a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Economics from St. Olaf College. He fulfills the board position for a manager, operator, or owner of a nursing home. He is reappointed for a four-year term that expires on January 1, 2007. He was first appointed to the board in 1999.

Catherine Lloyd, of Plymouth, is currently an elementary school nurse in Robbinsdale. She also works with nursing assistant students at Hennepin Technical College. She recently retired as Nurse Administrator and Director of Nursing at North Ridge Care Center in New Hope, a 559 bed facility. Prior to retirement from North Ridge Care Center, she was a licensed Nursing Home Administrator. She is currently a Registered Nurse. She received a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing degree from University of North Dakota. She fulfills the board position for a nurse. She is reappointed for a four-year term that expires on January 1, 2007. She was first appointed to the board in 1992.

Chandra Mehrotra, of Duluth, is Dean of Special Projects and Professor of Psychology at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth. He is former Chair of the Psychology Department and Dean of Graduate Studies. He serves on the Editorial Board of Educational Gerontology, and is a Consulting Editor for Teaching of Psychology. He has done extensive published research on the topic of aging. He is a licensed Consulting Psychologist. He received a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Psychology from Ohio State University. He fulfills the board position for a public member. He is appointed for a four-year term that expires on January 1, 2007. He replaces board member Richard Sizer.

The Board of Examiners for Nursing Home Administrators licenses nursing home administrators. The board investigates complaints, and has the authority to revoke and suspend licenses. The board also develops licensing standards, conducts license examinations, and authorizes continuing education requirements. The board consists of nine members appointed by the Governor, as well as ex-officio members from Minnesota's Department of Health and Department of Human Services.
