GENERAL NOTES

Toensing and the Minnesota Legislative Manual, 1905 list his birth year as 1859. His obituary in the Minneapolis Star reports his birthday as February 25, 1859. His tombstone lists February 25, 1859. The Minnesota Legislative Manuals, 1899, 1901 and 1903 incorrectly list his birth year as 1860.

He ran unsuccessfully in 1906 for governor but lost the Republican nomination.

He was president of the National Tax Association in 1921.

He died while in service in the State Tax Commission. He suffered from heart disease. He is buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Mantorville, Minnesota.
