Governor Dayton issues Emergency Executive Order 11-21

Declares State of Emergency in Minnesota following storms

St. Paul, MN - Today, Governor Mark Dayton issued Emergency Executive Order 11-21, declaring a State of Emergency in Minnesota, following the severe weather that caused extensive damage starting in southwest Minnesota and moving northeast on July 1, 2011. Affected areas include the counties of Anoka, Brown, Isanti, Kanabec, Lincoln, Lyon, McLeod, Meeker, Pine, Pipestone, Redwood, Renville, Scott, Stearns, Wright, and Yellow Medicine.

Under the order, the Department of Public Safety Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management will continue the activation of the Minnesota Emergency Operations Plan, continue the provision of on-site support and assistance to the affected local governments, and determine the need for supplementary disaster aid. State agencies are directed to provide necessary assistance to help local units of government respond to and recover from this emergency.
