Governor thanks judge for his service, will promptly appoint a new Chief Judge

ST. PAUL, MN - Today in a letter to the Governor, Court of Appeals Judge Matthew Johnson announced that he will not seek reappointment as Chief Judge of the Minnesota Court of Appeals when his term ends on October 31, 2013. Judge Johnson will continue his service on the Minnesota Court of Appeals. Following the news of Judge Johnson's decision, Governor Mark Dayton issued the following statement:

"Throughout his career, Judge Matthew Johnson has displayed an admirable commitment to public service and to our system of justice," said Governor Dayton. "I thank him for his outstanding leadership during his term as Chief Judge of the Minnesota Court of Appeals. I look forward to his continuing service on the Court of Appeals."

Governor Dayton will promptly undertake the appointment of a new Chief Judge to ensure an orderly transition on the Court.
