Governor Dayton travels to Delano, Chaska, Belle Plaine, and Mendota today to assess flood damage, meet with local emergency managers

Governor Dayton convened members of his Cabinet on Monday afternoon to discuss flood response

ST. PAUL, MN - Yesterday afternoon, Governor Mark Dayton and Minnesota's Executive Council voted unanimously to extend /governor/assets/EO-14-11-a.pdf_tcm1055-92870.pdfExecutive Order 14-11 for a period of 30 days. The Executive Order - which was issued by Governor Dayton on June 19 in response to widespread flooding across Minnesota - declares a Peacetime State of Emergency in 35 counties. Based on the Executive Council's actions this afternoon, the State of Emergency will remain in effect until Tuesday, July 22.

Executive Order 14-11 provides state resources, and engages state agencies in disaster response efforts. Counties included in the State of Emergency include; Beltrami, Blue Earth, Brown, Dodge, Faribault, Freeborn, Goodhue, Grant, Hubbard, Jackson, Lake of the Woods, Le Sueur, Lyon, Koochiching, McLeod, Morrison, Mower, Murray, Nicollet, Nobles, Olmsted, Otter Tail, Pipestone, Ramsey, Redwood, Renville, Rice, Rock, Roseau, Saint Louis, Scott, Sibley, Steele, Todd, and Waseca.

Governor Met with Cabinet to Review Flood Situation, Discuss Response Efforts
Governor Dayton convened members of his Cabinet yesterday for a meeting of the Minnesota Recovers Task Force. During the meeting, the state's Director of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, Kris Eide, briefed the Governor and Cabinet on continued flooding throughout the state, and the state's ongoing disaster response efforts. Cabinet members provided status reports to the Governor on the measures that state agencies are taking to provide assistance to flood-affected communities, and coordinated response efforts across the Administration.

Governor Dayton to Visit Four Minnesota Communities Today
As flooding continues in communities across Minnesota, Governor Dayton travels to Delano, Chaska, Belle Plaine, and Mendota today to assess flood damage, meet with local emergency managers, and discuss flood prevention and mitigation efforts. Throughout the day, the Governor will be joined by state emergency management officials and Department of Public Safety Commissioner Mona Dohman. The Governor's schedule is as follows (there are no additional public events on the Governor's Schedule for Tuesday, June 24):

9:30am - Governor Dayton met with Wright County emergency managers and local elected officials at Delano City Hall (234 Second Street North). This meeting was open to the press.

12:00pm - Governor Dayton will attend the groundbreaking of a flood mitigation project in Chaska. The project includes a new four-lane Hwy 101 bridge spanning the flood plain between the existing Hwy 101 Minnesota River Bridge in Shakopee, and County Road 61 in Chanhassen. The new bridge will minimize transportation disruptions when the Minnesota River reaches flood stage. This event is open to the press. It will take place at the Park and Ride at 822 Flying Cloud Drive in Chaska.

1:30pm - Governor Dayton will meet with Scott County emergency managers and local elected officials at the Belle Plaine Fire Department (700 East Main Street). This meeting is open to the press.

3:15pm - Governor Dayton will meet with Dakota County emergency managers and local elected officials at VFW Post 6690 in Mendota (1323 Sibley Memorial Highway). This meeting is open to the press.
