ST. PAUL, MN – Today, the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis announced that Alene Tchourumoff, Chair of the Metropolitan Council, will serve as its next Senior Vice President of Community Development and Engagement. The following is a statement from Governor Mark Dayton.
“Alene Tchourumoff has been an outstanding leader as Chair of the Metropolitan Council. Her devoted service has made our Metropolitan region stronger. As Chair of the Metropolitan Council, Alene has left an indelible mark on our region, its communities, and our State’s economy.
“I thank Harry Melander for his willingness to perform the duties of Chair for the remainder of my term. Harry has provided superb leadership as Vice Chair for the last seven-and-a-half years and will provide essential continuity during the upcoming transition.”
In accordance with the bylaws of the Metropolitan Council, the Vice Chair of the Council, Harry Melander, will perform the Chair’s duties in the brief interim before a new Chair is appointed by the next Governor.
