Governor-Elect Mark Dayton Announces Inauguration Program

St. Paul, MN - Governor-Elect Mark Dayton and Lieutenant Governor-Elect Yvonne Prettner Solon released the details of the program for the swearing-in ceremony of the state's constitutional officers. The ceremony is scheduled for Monday, January 3rd, 2011 at twelve o'clock in the afternoon at the Landmark Center in Saint Paul.

State Supreme Court Justice Lori Skjerven Gildea will swear in Governor-Elect Dayton and former Vice President Walter Mondale will serve as event emcee.

Pastor Kerri Allen, of Saint Paul, will provide the invocation. McKaia Ryberg of Buffalo Lake will sing the national anthem. Music will be provided by the MacPhail Community Youth Choir and the Minnesota National Guard 34th Red Bull Infantry Division Band.

As previously announced, Governor-Elect Dayton and Lt. Governor-Elect Prettner Solon will begin inauguration day by serving breakfast to students at Wellstone Elementary in Saint Paul.

After the swearing-in ceremony a public reception is planned at the capitol from 2:00 to 4:30 PM. The Minnesota Historical Society will have displays of Minnesota artifacts from past Governors such as previous constitutions, past speeches, a trowel that was used to lay the cornerstone of the capitol, and a historic revolver owned by Governor Ramsey.
