Governor Dayton Holds Signing Ceremony for HHS Omnibus Budget Bill

4/30/2012 12:43:58 PM

Saint Paul – Today, Governor Dayton held a signing ceremony for House File 2294, the Health and Human Services (HHS) omnibus budget bill.  This bill restores $18 million in funding for some of the essential HHS services that were cut as a part of the 2011 budget compromise.  This bill adopts the governor’s top priority budget recommendations for HHS, as reflected in his supplemental budget proposal and is a remarkable example of bipartisan negotiation on the part of the legislature and the administration.  A photo and two audio clips are attached.

This bill contains many important provisions, including:

Delaying the Personal Care Attendant relative rate reduction until July 2013.

Restoring funding for this biennium for the Emergency Medical Assistance program, providing dialysis and cancer treatment for some of the sickest people living in Minnesota.

Allowing people with disabilities to stay in the work force past age 65, if they choose, and continue receiving Medicaid.

Governor Dayton was joined at the signing ceremony by:

Commissioner Ed Ehlinger, Department of Health
Commissioner Lucinda Jesson, Department of Human Services
