2/23/2012 10:14:43 AM

Today, Governor Mark Dayton announced the appointment of Gary M. Hall as a judge on Minnesota's Workers' Compensation Court of Appeals. Mr. Hall will be replacing the Honorable William R. Pederson, who retired earlier this year.

Mr. Hall currently serves as Assistant Commissioner for Safety and Workers' Compensation at the Department of Labor and Industry. Through his role as Assistant Commissioner, Mr. Hall is responsible for the operations of the Workers' Compensation and OSHA programs. He also acts as the Executive Director of the Workers' Compensation Advisory Council. Previously, Mr. Hall served as a Workers' Compensation Judge with the Office of Administrative Hearings and with the Department of Labor and Industry. He received a B.A. summa cum laude from the University of Minnesota in 1979; and a J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1982.

Additionally, Mr. Hall is a member of the American Bar Association's Labor and Employment Law Section National Conference of Specialized Court Judges and is a past member of the National Association of Hearing Officials. He is a Rosetown Playhouse Community Theater volunteer as well as a Moot Court volunteer.

Mr. Hall resides with his wife Lynda and his daughter Taylor in Shoreview.

The Workers' Compensation Court of Appeals is an independent agency of Minnesota's executive branch. The Court reviews workers' compensation cases decided by compensation judges at the Office of Administrative Hearings and some cases decided by the Workers' Compensation Division at the Department of Labor and Industry.
