ST. PAUL, MN – In honor and remembrance of Judge Miles Lord, Governor Mark Dayton has ordered all U.S. flags and Minnesota flags to be flown at half-staff at all state and federal buildings in the State of Minnesota, from sunrise until sunset on Thursday, January 12, 2017.
Minnesota Federal District Judge Miles Welton Lord, a native to the Iron Range, served as Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Minnesota, Attorney General of Minnesota, and U.S. Attorney for Minnesota; and was appointed to serve as a Federal Judge for the Federal District of Minnesota by President Lyndon Johnson, where he later served as Chief Judge.
Judge Miles Lord, known as "the people's judge," passed away at the age of 97 on December 10, 2016, in Eden Prairie, Minnesota.
