March 09, 2011

Saint Paul, MN - Today Governor Mark Dayton signed House File 103/Senate File 114 into law. The bill allows the State of Minnesota to pay up to 13 weeks of extended unemployment benefits. The extension of benefits will be 100 percent federally funded.

By extending unemployment benefits, 55,000 unemployed Minnesotans will receive up to $160 million in benefits through the end of the year. These benefits will help support Minnesotans as they continue to seek employment in their communities.

On signing the bill, Governor Dayton said, "I am very pleased to sign this extension of unemployment benefits for the over 200,000 Minnesotans still looking for work. This extension is vitally important to their providing for their families during this very difficult time."
