Governor Dayton orders flags flown at half-staff in honor of Sergeant Chad Frokjer

St. Paul, MN - In honor and remembrance of Sergeant Chad Frokjer, Governor Mark Dayton has ordered all U.S. flags and Minnesota flags to be flown at half-staff at all state and federal buildings in the State of Minnesota, from sunrise until sunset on Saturday, July 9, 2011.

Sgt. Chad Frokjer, of Maplewood, Minnesota, was twenty-seven years old, and a 2002 graduate of North High School. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in the fall of 2003. Sgt. Frokjer served two tours in Iraq and was deployed to Afghanistan in March, 2011. He was a convoy commander of a mobile assault team for the 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Division and he died a hero on Thursday, June 30, 2011, in Afghanistan, while serving in combat.

Sgt. Frokjer is survived by his wife, Leslie Frokjer, who is expecting the birth of their son in September, to be named Eli. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, July 9, 2011.

At the direction of the Governor, Minnesota flies it's flags at half-staff following the death of Minnesota military personnel killed in the line of duty, on the day of interment.
