Minnesotans Respond to Governor Dayton’s Appointment of Brigadier General Johanna Clyborne to Serve as MN.IT Services Commissioner

1/24/2018 5:28:03 PM

ST. PAUL, MN – Governor Mark Dayton today appointed Brigadier General Johanna Clyborne to serve as the next commissioner of Minnesota IT Services. Read what Minnesotans are saying about Governor Dayton’s appointment below.

“Brigadier General Clyborne is a proven senior leader within the Minnesota National Guard and a true citizen soldier, working each day as an acclaimed attorney. I am confident she will excel in her executive duties as the commissioner of Minnesota IT Services while continuing to serve as a Director of the Joint Staff for the Minnesota National Guard.”

– Major General Jon Jensen, Adjutant General, Minnesota National Guard

“I first met Johanna when we were law school classmates and have had the privilege of working with her over the last several years in public service for the people of Minnesota. She has always been committed to community service – with decades of military experience. Johanna also understands the needs of the private sector, having co-founded her own woman-owned small business. She is a great choice to lead Minnesota IT Services. I look forward to working closely with her over the next year.”

– Emily Piper, Commissioner, Minnesota Department of Human Services

“Johanna Clyborne is a compassionate, committed public servant.  In addition to her military service, Johanna consistently makes meaningful contributions to her community.  As co-founding partner of our firm, Johanna continues to serve people by practicing family and military law.  We are sad that Johanna will not be at our office every day, but are confident that she will be a great Commissioner of Minnesota IT Services.  As a County Commissioner, I am hopeful that Johanna will lead MN.IT in solving problems and making the delivery of services to the public more efficient and effective.”

– Barb Weckman Brekke, Brekke, Clyborne & Ribich, LLC and Scott County Commissioner

“Brigadier General Johanna Clyborne will bring extensive leadership and management expertise to the commissioner’s office. Clyborne has managed multimillion dollar budgets and thousands of employees, sometimes in challenging circumstances. These experiences leave her well-prepared to step into this new role.”

– Jaime Tincher, Deputy Mayor, City of Saint Paul

“Johanna is an experienced, strategic leader with a sharp legal mind. She has the ability to build consensus with divergent stakeholders. Her advocacy for Minnesotans through her law practice, and her ability to manage complex projects, work collaboratively, and her common sense leadership style make her a great choice to lead Minnesota IT Services.”

– Vildan Teske, Partner, Teske, Micko, Katz, Kitzer & Rochel, PLLP

“Jo is a compassionate, dedicated public servant. I know that she will bring that same energy and passion for public service, along with an unyielding commitment to excellence and decades of management experience, to the Commissioner’s Office at Minnesota IT Services.”

– Lisa Brabbit, Senior Assistant Dean, University of St. Thomas School of Law
