Governor Dayton orders flags flown at half-staff in honor of Army Specialist Kedith L. Jacobs

St. Paul - In honor and remembrance of Army Specialist Kedith L. Jacobs, Governor Mark Dayton has ordered all U.S. flags and Minnesota flags to be flown at half-staff at all state and federal buildings in the State of Minnesota, from sunrise until sunset on Wednesday, June 20, 2012, the day of Specialist Jacobs interment.

Specialist Kedith L. Jacobs was 21 years old and a 2008 graduate of Richfield High School. He enlisted in the United States Army in 2010, and was stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas. He was a Multichannel Transmission System Operator-Maintainer for the 2nd Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division.

Specialist Kedith L. Jacobs gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom and died a hero on Sunday, May 27, 2012, in Chak-E Warkdak District, Afghanistan, when his unit was attacked by enemy forces. Specialist Jacobs earned the Purple Heart, and the Bronze Star, among other awards.

Specialist Jacobs is survived by his wife, Phyllis Jacobs and two-year-old daughter, Alora L. Jacobs, and many other loving relatives and friends. A celebration of Kedith's life will be held on Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at Dodd Field Chapel at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas, followed by interment at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
