11/13/2018 3:42:04 PM

ST. PAUL, MN – In honor of Minnesota philanthropist Diane Sims Page, Governor Mark Dayton has proclaimed Wednesday, November 14, 2018, as “/governor/assets/2018_11_14_Diane_Sims_Page_Day_tcm1055-359057.pdfDiane Sims Page Day” in Minnesota. Diane was an accomplished business leader, consultant, and entrepreneur, as well as the wife of Hall of Fame Minnesota Vikings player and former Minnesota Supreme Court Justice Alan Page.

Diane Sims was born in Minneapolis and remained devoted to Minnesota her entire life. Known for her courage and trail-blazing spirit, Diane gained national recognition as a market researcher and focus group leader whose clients included many Fortune 500 companies. Diane married Alan Page in 1973, and the couple raised four children together, and later enjoyed spending time with their four grandchildren.

The Pages pursued their passion for bringing hope and opportunity to Minnesota students of color by establishing the Page Education Foundation in 1988. Under Diane’s leadership, the Page Education Foundation has awarded over $15 million in scholarships to over 7,000 Minnesota students of color who have demonstrated a positive attitude toward education and agreed to act as mentors for younger children in their communities. Page Scholars, as they are known, have positively impacted tens of thousands of Minnesota students by providing nearly 500,000 hours of volunteer service to 325 community organizations and schools across the state.

Diane Sims Page passed away on September 29, 2018. Diane exhibited the best of what it means to be a Minnesotan. She will be remembered for her kindness and generosity, as well as service to her community and work to make Minnesota a more just and inclusive state.
