Commission on Judicial Selection Recommends Eighth Judicial District Candidates to Governor Dayton

Saint Paul, MN - The Commission on Judicial Selection announced today it is recommending four candidates to Governor Mark Dayton for consideration to fill the current vacancy in Minnesota's Eighth Judicial District.

Justin Anderson: Anderson is the Grant County Attorney who also maintains a private practice at Kratochwill and Anderson P.A. providing broad experience in both civil and criminal matters, including prosecution of felonies and gross misdemeanors, labor disputes, and various litigation matters. Anderson also served as President of the Sixteenth District Bar Association.

Charles Glasrud: Glasrud is the Stevens County Attorney and also maintains a private practice where he focuses on family law and general litigation. Glasrud has been actively involved with Legal Services of Northwest Minnesota where he provides pro bono services. He also served as President of the Minnesota County Attorneys Association.

Keith Helgeson: Helgeson currently serves as the Yellow Medicine County Attorney where he is actively involved in the prosecution of felonies and gross misdemeanors. Helgeson has served as a Granite Falls City Council member, aboard member of the YME Hoops Club and a Granite Falls Hospital Board member.

Thomas Van Hon: Van Hon is an assistant public defender for the State of Minnesota Board of Public Defense as well as the attorney for civil matters in the city of Fairfax. Van Hon regularly assists the Redwood County Drug Court program and is a member of the I.S.D. 2365 School Board.

Minnesota's Eighth Judicial District includes the counties of Big Stone, Chippewa, Grant, Kandiyohi, LacQuiParle, Meeker, Pope, Renville, Stevens, Swift, Traverse, Wilkin and Yellow Medicine.

An announcement of the appointment will be made following a rigorous interview process over the next few weeks.
