Celebrate the Holiday Season at the Minnesota Governor’s Residence

ST. PAUL, MN – The Holiday Season at the Minnesota Governor’s Residence will kick-off on Tuesday, December 5, 2017. The Residence will be open for two daytime public tours on Tuesday, December 5th and Tuesday, December 19th, from 10:30am to 12:30pm. There will also be an evening tour on Tuesday, December 12th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. No reservations are required; the tours will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
 
During the tours, volunteer docents from the Women’s Auxiliary of the Minnesota Historical Society will be on-hand to answer questions in each room on the First Floor and Lower Level of the Residence. Each tour will include a live performance from local musicians, including Armstrong Chamber Singers, Paulette Day, and South St. Paul Secondary Choir. The 1006 Summit Avenue Society will offer a selection of merchandise available for purchase. Proceeds from these sales will help to support the historic Residence.
 
There is no fee for the tour, but please consider bringing a monetary donation or a donation of non-perishable food items for Second Harvest Heartland.
 
About This Year’s Decorations
The interior of the home is expertly decorated by local designers who have created signature looks for the public spaces at the Residence. This holiday season the Residence is decorated with a Traditional Holiday Elegance theme. The following designers have generously donated the design, materials, and installation of the holiday décor. C Stewart Design of Minnetonka, Chazin Interiors of Wayzata, General Store of Minnetonka of Minnetonka, I like you and I like you too of Minneapolis and St. Paul, Ingebretsen's Scandinavian Gifts of Minneapolis and Studio Emme of Minneapolis.
 
The Summit Avenue entrance plants and décor are donated by Heidi’s Lifestyle Gardens from Corcoran, Minnesota. A 20-foot White Spruce tree will be on display on the front lawn of the Residence. The tree was harvested from the Chengwatana State Forest, Sandstone Area in Pine County by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and members of Conservation Corps Minnesota. Rocket Crane Company donated services to help with the installation of the tree, and it is decorated by Rainbow Holiday Lighting with almost 17,000 LED lights. It will be lit for the first time on the evening of November 27th.
 
The gates outside the Residence decorated with fresh spruce garland and wreaths hang on the front doorway are donated by Mickman Brothers from Ham Lake, Minnesota. Four holiday baskets are hung under the porte-cochere are donated by Bachman’s Floral Gift and Garden from South Minneapolis.
