Lt. Governor Yvonne Prettner Solon attending National Lt. Governors Association Meeting in Washington, DC

ST. PAUL, MN - Lt. Governor Yvonne Prettner Solon is attending the National Lieutenant Governors Association (NLGA) Federal-State Relations meeting this week in Washington, DC. Prettner Solon is joining more than 20 of her peers for a series of meetings aimed at opening new economic opportunities for states like Minnesota. The group is also discussing the implications of sequestration, exploring opportunities to assist in increasing employment rates among veterans and the disabled, and considering strategies to increase opportunity in the life science fields.
 
While in Washington, Lt. Governor Prettner Solon has met with U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, the Ambassador of Mexico to the United States, and with officials from the Embassies of Germany and Israel. Prettner Solon also met at the White House today with the President's Chief of Staff, former Minnesotan Denis McDonough, and the Director and Deputy Director of Intergovernmental Relations, David Agnew and Jewel James, respectively. She also met with Ambassador Miriam Sapiro, Deputy U.S. Trade Representative to discuss federal-state partnerships.
 
The Lt. Governor will return to Minnesota on Friday.
