St. Paul, MN - Governor Mark Dayton today appointed Dan Boivin as Chair of the Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC). Boivin has served on the MAC as Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak's representative since 2002. Currently, he serves as Chair of the Human Resources and Affirmative Action Committee.

The Metropolitan Airports Commission was created in 1943 to operate MSP Airport and provide coordinated aviation services throughout the Twin Cities metropolitan area. The MAC operates the third largest aviation system in the nation, which includes the Minneapolis- St. Paul International airport and six reliever airports: Airlake, Anoka County-Blaine, Crystal, Flying Cloud, Lake Elmo, and St. Paul Downtown (Holman Field). Although it is a public organization, the MAC receives no operations funding from state or federal taxes.

"Dan Boivin brings business savvy, along with strong experience on the MAC board to the important role of MAC Board Chair," said Governor Dayton. "He understands the role of MSP Airport to the economic competitiveness of our state. He also understands that the airport exists to serve the needs of Minnesota consumers. Dan will promote safe, convenient, cost-competitive aviation services for customers."

During Mr. Boivin's tenure, the Metropolitan Airports Commission led expansion of the Lindbergh Terminal, completed a new Humphrey Terminal, added a fourth runway, and connected the MSP terminals to downtown Minneapolis and the Mall of America via the Hiawatha Light Rail line. His appointment as Chair will provide important continuity as Minnesota's economy adapts to the challenges and opportunities of the future.

I am honored to be chosen by Governor Dayton to chair the Metropolitan Airports Commission and serve the citizens of Minnesota, said Boivin. "Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport is the 12th busiest airport and one of the largest economic engines between Chicago and the West Coast and is consistently ranked by passengers as one of the best large airports in the world. I look forward to working with everyone to keep MSP and its six reliever airports one of the safest, most convenient and efficiently run airports in the world."

In addition to serving as a Commissioner on the MAC, Boivin is the Executive Vice-President, Chief Legal Officer, and General Counsel for SeeChange Health, a value-based health insurance and technology company. Previously, Boivin served as attorney and partner with the Meshbesher and Spence law firm. He served as the chair of the Minnesota Bar Association Civil Litigation Section, and has provided pro bono legal representation and as a volunteer judge for the Minnesota State High School Mock Trial Tournament. He is a graduate of Hamline Law School and currently lives in Minneapolis.
