Governor Dayton Continues Statewide Tour of 87 Counties in 86 Days

Governor Dayton to visit with Minnesotans in Hubbard, Beltrami, Clearwater, and Becker counties this week

Governor Dayton and Lt. Governor Smith will visit all of Minnesota’s 87 counties in 86 days, concluding their travels on or before October 25, 2016

ST. PAUL, MN – Governor Mark Dayton will continue his statewide tour of 87 counties in 86 days by visiting Hubbard, Beltrami, Clearwater, and Becker counties this week. On Wednesday, Governor Dayton will visit St. Joseph’s Hospital in Park Rapids for a conversation about rural health issues. On Wednesday, he also will visit Northwest Indian Development Center in Bemidji to discuss strategies for closing educational disparities. On Thursday, the Governor will travel to Itasca State Park to kick off a Year of Water Action. He will also visit Detroit Lakes for a discussion with local officials about their wastewater treatment facility.

The Next Four Counties

Below is a list of counties, Governor Dayton is scheduled to visit this week. Additional details for upcoming visits and events will be announced in the Governor’s nightly schedules.

12	Clearwater	Governor Dayton, Pollution Control Agency Commissioner John Linc Stine, and Natural Resources Commissioner Tom Landwehr will kick off a Year of Water Action at the headwaters of the Mississippi River at Itasca State Park. This event will be open to the press.	Aug. 18
13	Becker	Governor Dayton and Commissioner Stine will meet with city and local officials to talk about their wastewater facility and clean drinking water supply for area residents. This event will be open to the press.	Aug. 18

About the 87 Counties in 86 Days Tour

The Dayton-Smith “87 Counties in 86 Days” tour began on August 1, 2016, at the expansion groundbreaking of Bell Laboratories, Inc. in Eagan, Minnesota (Dakota County). Governor Dayton and Lt. During their travels, the Governor and Lt. Governor are listening to Minnesotans’ ideas and concerns, discussing their priorities for a better Minnesota, and celebrating the achievements and aspirations of Minnesota families, businesses, schools, and communities.
