ST. PAUL, Minn. – Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton has directed the state Department of Transportation to light the Interstate 35W Bridge purple Friday and Saturday nights, Jan. 12-13, in honor of the Minnesota Vikings football team. The Vikings will play the New Orleans Saints in a National Football Conference semi-final game Sunday afternoon. 

 

“Vikings fans everywhere are excited to cheer our team to victory in the playoffs this weekend,” said Governor Mark Dayton. “I urge all Minnesotans to show our Purple Pride ahead of the big game. Go Vikings!”

 

The bridge is equipped with an LED lighting system that allows operators to color it with light in almost any hue. MnDOT recently upgraded the lighting system. More information on the bridge can be found here: www.mndot.gov/i35wbridge/bridgelighting.jsp.
