Governor Dayton Reappoints Susan Park Rani and R.T. Rybak to the Destination Medical Center Board

ST. PAUL, MN – Today, Governor Mark Dayton announced the reappointments of Susan Park Rani and R.T. Rybak as members of the Destination Medical Center Corporation Board of Directors. Both are appointed to six year terms, expiring on January 3, 2023. 
 
“I am pleased reappoint Susan Park Rani and R.T. Rybak to the Destination Medical Center Corporation Board,” said Governor Dayton. “Their respective prior experiences in the private sector and local government have been critical to the success of the Destination Medical Center initiative thus far. I thank Ms. Rani and Mr. Rybak for their willingness to continue serving.”
 
“I am excited to see my colleagues, Susan and R.T. remain on the board,” said Lt. Governor Tina Smith, DMCC board chair. “They provide invaluable perspective and play an integral role in shaping our efforts to ensure Rochester remains ‘America’s City for Health’ for generations to come.”
 
The Destination Medical Center Corporation (DMCC) Board oversees the state’s largest-ever economic development project. The board is responsible for guiding the use of the state’s $455 million investment in the Greater Rochester area – an investment that will leverage an estimated $5.6 billion in local and private investment over 20 years, creating tens of thousands of new jobs, and securing the state’s competitive position as an international hub for health care and advancements in Minnesota’s life science sector. 
 
About Susan Park Rani
Ms. Park Rani is an entrepreneur, shareholder, and founder of Rani Engineering, Inc. – a Minneapolis-based firm with offices in California and North Dakota. She is a registered professional engineer with more than thirty years of experience in the planning, design, and construction of buildings, industrial facilities, highways, railroads, airports, waterways, and wastewater treatment plants. Ms. Park Rani has served on the boards of American Consulting Engineering Companies Minnesota, the St. Paul Area Chamber of Commerce, Mounds Park Academy, the Association of Women Contractors, and the National Association of Minority Contractors, Upper Midwest. 
 
About the Honorable R.T. Rybak
Mayor Rybak is the President and CEO of the Minneapolis Foundation, one of the nation’s largest community foundations, where he oversees the management of nearly $700 million in assets and an average distribution of $50 million in grants to the community. Previously, he was the Executive Director of Generation Next and Mayor of Minneapolis from 2002-2013. During his three terms as Mayor, he led a multi-pronged approach to adding jobs and growing the City’s economy through helping small businesses succeed, fostering innovation, increasing regional cooperation, and training displaced workers in fast-growing sectors. He is a founding board member of Greater MSP, Itasca Group, Regional Council of Mayors, and Generation Next.
