May 24, 2011

Today, Governor Mark Dayton signed Emergency Executive Order 11-17, declaring a State of Emergency in the State of Minnesota following the severe weather storms in the Twin Cities metropolitan area on Sunday, May 22, 2011.

This document orders the Department of Public Safety and Homeland Security and Emergency Management to continue the activation of the Minnesota Emergency Operations Plan, to continue the provision of on-site support and assistance to the affected local governments, and to determine the need for supplementary disaster aid. Under this order, all state agencies are directed to continue to provide the assistance necessary to help the local units of government respond to and recover from this emergency. Additionally, this order exempts commercial motor vehicle drivers who are providing emergency assistance by transporting supplies and materials to affected areas from regulations pertaining to hours of service.
