Statement from Governor Dayton on Child Protection Legislation

ST. PAUL, MN - Today, Governor Mark Dayton released this statement following the final passage of HF8/SF807, a bill that would enhance child protection measures in Minnesota. The legislation passed unanimously in the Minnesota Senate and the Minnesota House of Representatives. Governor Dayton plans to sign the bill when it reaches his desk, and has pledged an additional $50 million investment in child protection measures this session, based on the forthcoming recommendations of the Governor's Task Force on the Protection of Children.

"This new law will restore an important layer of protection that will help identify abuse and enhance the safety of our children. I thank the Legislature for acting quickly and unanimously on this important legislation."
