Governor Thanks Metropolitan Council Chair Sue Haigh for Her Service

Governor Dayton now accepting applications for next Met Council Chair

ST. PAUL, MN - Today, Susan Haigh announced that she will resign her post as Chair of the Metropolitan Council to focus her energies on her full-time position as President and CEO of Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity. Following today's news, Governor Mark Dayton thanked Chair Haigh for her service and announced that his office will immediately begin accepting applications to fill her vacancy as Metropolitan Council Chair.

"Sue Haigh has devoted her career to building strong and vibrant communities," said Governor Dayton. "Her dedicated public service and nonprofit leadership have improved the lives of many Minnesotans.

"Chair Haigh has been an outstanding leader of the Metropolitan Council during a very challenging time. I am grateful to her for her exemplary leadership and service."

Governor Dayton Now Accepting Applications for Metropolitan Council Chair
Following Chair Haigh's announcement today, Governor Dayton's Office announced it will immediately begin accepting applications for her replacement. The Chair of the Metropolitan Council must lead the Council in its important mission to create a financially sustainable 21st Century transportation system, promote housing opportunities across the region, and invest in infrastructure that supports economic development.

The Metropolitan Council is the regional policy-making body, planning agency, and provider of essential services for the Twin Cities metropolitan region. The Council's mission is to foster efficient and economic growth for a prosperous metropolitan region. The Council's 17-member policy board has guided and coordinated the strategic growth of the metro area and achieved regional goals for nearly 50 years. Individuals wishing to apply may submit a resume and cover letter to Adam Prock, Assistant Chief of Staff to Governor Mark Dayton, at 116 Veterans Service Building, 20 West 12th Street, St. Paul, MN 55155, or by via e-mail at adam.prock@state.mn.us. Application materials are due by close of business, Monday, December 1st, 2014.
