Readout of Governor Dayton’s Conference Call with Local Officials in Luverne and Edgerton

ST. PAUL, MN - This afternoon, Governor Mark Dayton hosted a conference call with local leaders in Luverne and Edgerton, following severe weather that caused flooding in the region over the weekend. The following individuals participated in this afternoon's call:

  • Jaime Tincher, Governor Dayton's Chief of Staff
  • Mona Dohman, Commissioner of Public Safety
  • Kris Eide, Director of Homeland Security and Emergency Management
  • Pat Baustian, Mayor of Luverne
  • Kyle Oldre, Rock County Emergency Management Director
  • Ross Brands, Edgerton City Development Coordinator
  • Steve Ewing, Pipestone County Emergency Manager
  • Stan Williamson, Chair of the Rock County Board of Commissioners

During the call, local officials described damage to local residences, farms, roads, and other local infrastructure. Governor Dayton expressed his plans to meet in-person with local officials on Friday to further-assess flood damage in the region, and discuss how the state may provide assistance to area communities.

Commissioner Dohman and Kris Eide pledged state support with the help of the State Emergency Operations Center to provide assistance to local emergency response officials. Ms. Eide discussed the newly-enacted disaster assistance fund, and the process for applying for a Gubernatorial Disaster Declaration from the state.

Governor Dayton provided his home phone number to local officials, encouraging them to contact him directly with anything they need.
