Commission on Judicial Selection Recommends Fourth Judicial District Candidates to Governor Dayton

ST. PAUL, MN - The Commission on Judicial Selection announced today it is recommending three candidates to Governor Mark Dayton for consideration to fill the current vacancy in Minnesota's Fourth Judicial District. This vacancy was created upon the retirement of the Honorable Philip D. Bush, and will be chambered at Minneapolis in Hennepin County.
 
Michael K. Browne: Mr. Browne serves as the Director of the Office of Police Conduct Review for the City of Minneapolis, providing direction and management to the civilian oversight agency. Previously, Mr. Browne was appointed to serve as the Assistant Director at the Minneapolis Department of Civil Rights, the Legal Affairs Manager at the Minnesota Department of Human Rights, and the interim Director of the Minneapolis Department of Civil Rights. He was also a solo practitioner and started his practice as a bilingual Spanish-speaking attorney at Centro Legal, Inc. Mr. Browne is an adjunct professor at the University of St. Thomas, School of Law and a former chair of the Jordan Area Community Council.
 
Tamar N. Gronvall: Ms. Gronvall is an Assistant Attorney General and Manager of Tax Litigation, Bankruptcy, and Education Divisions of the Minnesota Attorney General's Office, where she manages the Divisions of 10 attorneys handling primarily civil defense cases. Previously, she was an Assistant Attorney General for the Health Licensing Division, an associate attorney at Leonard, Street and Deinard, and an associate attorney at Terhaar, Archibald, Pfefferle and Griebel, LLP. Ms. Gronvall has been a volunteer refugee asylum attorney for Minnesota Advocates for Human Rights and a former adjunct faculty member at the University of Minnesota School of Law.
 
Daniel S. Le: Mr. Le is the principal at the Le Law Group, representing individuals and companies on civil and criminal matters involving small business/corporate, employment, family, residential/commercial real estate, and immigration matters. Previously, he was a legal aid attorney with Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services, Community Prosecutor for City of St. Paul, and an associate at Kelly and Fawcett, PA. Mr. Le serves on the Board of Mu Performing Arts and formerly served on the MN Racial Fairness Committee, Minnesota Asian Pacific American Bar Association, Page Education Senior Mentor Program, and Moundsview Charter Commission.
 
Minnesota's Fourth Judicial District consists of Hennepin County.
 
An announcement of the appointment will be made following an interview process over the next few weeks.
