Governor Dayton and Lt. Governor Smith will visit all of Minnesota’s 87 counties in 86 days, concluding their travels on or before October 25th

ST. PAUL, MN – Governor Mark Dayton and Lt. Governor Tina Smith last week began their statewide tour of 87 counties in 86 days. Over the next eleven weeks, Governor Dayton and Lt. Governor Smith will travel to every county in the state, meeting face-to-face with community leaders, farmers, business owners, and Minnesotans from all walks of life. During their travels, the Governor and Lt. Governor will listen to Minnesotans’ ideas and concerns, discuss their priorities for a better Minnesota, and celebrate the achievements and aspirations of Minnesota families, businesses, schools, and communities.

“One of the best parts of my job as Governor is meeting with Minnesotans where they live and work, discussing their hopes and dreams, and listening to their ideas and concerns," said Governor Dayton. "I look forward to traveling the state, and taking the good ideas of Minnesotans back to the Capitol."

The Dayton-Smith “87 Counties in 86 Days” tour began last Monday, August 1st, at the expansion groundbreaking of Bell Laboratories, Inc. in Eagan, Minnesota (Dakota County). Governor Dayton and Lt. Governor Smith are scheduled to conclude their travels on or before October 25th.

“As I travel around Minnesota, I have learned that educators, small business owners and entrepreneurs, and other local leaders are coming up with some of the best ideas and new inventions in our state,” said Lt. Governor Smith. “As we work to build a state that works better for everyone, everywhere, we can learn a lot outside the Capitol. Governor Dayton and I look forward to meeting with people across the state, and putting their ideas to work at the State Capitol. Working together, we can and will build an even better Minnesota.”
