Statement from Governor Mark Dayton on Northern Stacks Groundbreaking

5/29/2014 10:14:43 AM

ST. PAUL, MN - This afternoon, Governor Mark Dayton participated in a groundbreaking event at Northern Stacks, a 122 acre commercial redevelopment site in Fridley, Minnesota. The new development will provide for up to 1.75 million square feet of customized industrial, office, and corporate headquarters facilities.

Previously designated as a superfund site, this redevelopment project received $1.4 million in clean-up grants from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) and the Metropolitan Council. DEED also awarded the project a $500,000 Redevelopment Grant - an economic development program that Governor Dayton and the Legislature invested $6 million in during the 2013 Legislative Session.

The following is a statement from Governor Dayton.

"This project is redevelopment at its best. Cleaning up this polluted site, and then transforming it into a hub for business growth and job creation, is a winning strategy for our environment, our economy, and our community. I congratulate Hyde Development, Mortenson Construction, and the City of Fridley for this very important project."
