ST. PAUL, MN – AARP Minnesota
today released their final recommendations on steps the state should take to improve the health and safety of Minnesota seniors who are cared for in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. The recommendations were assembled by an independent
work group requested by Governor Dayton in late November 2017, which was led and convened by AARP Minnesota, in conjunction with other organizations serving Minnesota seniors.
The following is a statement from Governor Mark Dayton.
“I am deeply troubled by the cases of maltreatment, neglect, and abuse that have taken place in some of Minnesota’s senior care facilities. I will closely review this report, and work with senior advocates, providers, and legislators to implement its recommendations in the upcoming session. We must and will do more to protect the health, safety, and dignity of all our state’s senior citizens.”
