Governor Dayton Issues Writs of Special Election to Fill House District 23B, Senate District 54 Vacancies

ST. PAUL, MN – Governor Mark Dayton today issued two writs of special election, to fill vacancies in the Minnesota Legislature. A special election to fill these vacancies will be held on Monday, February 12, 2018.
 
Governor Dayton today issued a writ of special election to fill the Office of State Representative for House District 23B in Blue Earth, Le Sueur, Waseca, and Watonwan Counties. This vacancy was created upon the resignation of State Representative Tony Cornish.
 
Governor Dayton today issued a writ of special election to fill the Office of State Senator for Senate District 54 in Dakota and Washington Counties. This vacancy was created upon the resignation of State Senator Dan Schoen.
 
Ahead of the special election to fill these vacancies on Monday, February 12, 2018, a special primary will be held on Monday, January 29, 2018. The candidate filing period will be from Monday, January 8 through Thursday, January 11, 2018.
 
In selecting these dates, Governor Dayton consulted with the four Legislative Caucus Leaders, the leadership of Minnesota’s major political parties, and the Office of the Minnesota Secretary of State.
