Lt. Governor Prettner Solon, Olmstead Plan Subcabinet gathering citizen input on plan to help people with disabilities

7/8/2013 10:14:43 AM

ST. PAUL, MN - On Tuesday, July 9, Lt. Governor Yvonne Prettner Solon and members of the Olmstead Plan Subcabinet will be in St. Paul to gather citizen input on the state's draft Olmstead Plan. Minnesota has long been a leader in services for people with disabilities and continues to look for opportunities to help people live as independently as possible and have choices about their lives. The draft plan charts a course that ensures Minnesotans with disabilities have the opportunity to learn, work, and enjoy life in the most integrated setting desired.

Tomorrow's session gives Minnesotans a chance to review and comment on the plan at an early stage. Individuals with disabilities, their families, advocacy organizations, service providers and others are encouraged to participate in this conversation and weigh-in on changes needed in housing, employment, transportation, supports and services, and community engagement.

Based on feedback from the public and disability experts, the subcabinet will revise its draft plan and present a final version for consideration in November.

Who: Lt. Governor Prettner Solon, members Olmstead Plan Subcabinet.

What: Opportunity for Minnesotans to review and provide feedback on the Olmstead Plan.

Where: State Office Building, Room 200, 100 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, St. Paul, MN

When: Tuesday, July 9, 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
