ST. PAUL, MN – The Commission on Judicial Selection announced today it is recommending three candidates to Governor Mark Dayton for consideration to fill the current vacancy in Minnesota’s Sixth Judicial District. This vacancy will occur upon the retirement of the Honorable David E. Ackerson, and will be chambered at Hibbing in St. Louis County.
Jaclyn Corradi Simon: Ms. Corradi Simon is a Managing Partner at Sellman, Borland & Simon, an Assistant Sixth District Public Defender, and a CHIPS Parent Attorney for Northern St. Louis County. In her practice, she handles criminal defense, child protection, municipal law, real estate, probate, and civil litigation. Previously, she was an associate attorney with Sellman Law Office and an associate attorney with the Law Office of James Perunovich. Ms. Corradi Simon is a volunteer attorney with the Volunteer Attorney Program, a member of the Children’s Justice Initiative, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Minnesota Discovery Center.
Andrew Peterson: Mr. Peterson is a shareholder at Cope & Peterson, Ltd., where he represents clients in all aspects of civil litigation, criminal law, real estate, business law, and municipal law. Previously, he was a law clerk at SiebenCarey and completed an internship and externship for the Honorable Donovan W. Frank, U.S. District Court Judge, District of Minnesota. Mr. Peterson is a volunteer attorney and board member of the Volunteer Attorney Program, a member of the Quad Cities Rotary Club, a member of the Twentieth District (Range) Bar Association, and a former investigator for the Twentieth District Ethics Committee.
Rachel Sullivan: Ms. Sullivan is an attorney at Prebich & Sullivan, P.C., where she is a general practitioner, handling civil, family, criminal, and probate matters. As part of her practice, Ms. Sullivan serves as a neutral mediator, Early Neutral Evaluation Evaluator, and Parenting-Time Expeditor. Previously, she was an associate attorney at Larkin, Hoffman, Daly & Lindgren, Ltd., an associate attorney at Lockridge Gridal Nauen, P.L.L.P, and a law clerk at the Minnesota Court of Appeals. Ms. Sullivan serves on the Hibbing Public School Board and is a member of the Hibbing Chisholm Youth Hockey Association Board of Directors.
Minnesota’s Sixth Judicial District consists of Carlton, Cook, Lake, and St. Louis Counties.
An announcement of the appointment will be made following an interview process over the next few weeks.
