Massman will oversee legislative affairs, filling vacancy left by Jaime Tincher

ST. PAUL, MN - As the 2014 Legislative Session gets underway, Governor Mark Dayton has announced that Matt Massman will serve as his new Deputy Chief of Staff for Legislative Affairs. Massman, who previously served as Deputy Commissioner for the Minnesota Department of Revenue, will fill the vacancy left when Jaime Tincher was promoted to serve as the Governor's Chief of Staff earlier this month. As Deputy Chief of Staff, Massman will be responsible for managing the Governor's legislative agenda and policy initiatives.

"Matt Massman is a very talented and experienced professional. I know that he will be an outstanding Deputy Chief of Staff," said Governor Dayton. "Matt will be the point person in my office for this legislative session, and I have complete confidence in his abilities."

Prior to joining the Governor's Office, Matt Massman served as Deputy Commissioner for the Minnesota Department of Revenue. Before his appointment as Deputy, Matt Served as the Department's Assistant Commissioner for Tax Policy and Internal Relations. For six years, he advised the Minnesota Senate on tax and budget issues as the Senate's Chief Fiscal Analyst. Massman has previously served as a State and Local Tax Policy Director at the Department of Revenue, and as a fiscal analyst for the Tax Committee of the Minnesota House of Representatives. He began his career in public service as a program evaluator at the Wisconsin Legislative Audit Bureau.

Massman is a graduate of Hamline University and holds a Master of Arts in public administration from the University of Wisconsin.
