St. Paul - In honor and remembrance of Sergeant Kyle B. Osborn, Governor Mark Dayton has ordered all U.S. flags and Minnesota flags to be flown at half-staff at all state and federal buildings in the State of Minnesota, from sunrise until sunset on Saturday, September 29, 2012, the day of Sergeant Osborn's interment.

Sergeant Kyle B. Osborn was 26 years old and a student of civil engineering at Minnesota State University, Mankato from 2005 - 2007, where he met his wife, Maggie Klason, of Delano, Minnesota. He enlisted in the United States Army in 2008. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team, based out of Camp Ederle in Vicenza, Italy. He became Senior Sniper Team Leader and was deployed to Afghanistan on July 3, 2012.

Sergeant Kyle B. Osborn gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom and died a hero on Thursday, September 13, 2012, when insurgents attacked his unit in Muqer, Afghanistan. Sergeant Kyle B. Osborn was not only an accomplished soldier, but also a remarkable young man of intelligence and common sense, who was regarded as a true servant, outspoken, and fiercely loyal by those who knew him

Sergeant Osborn is survived by his wife, Maggie Klason; mother, Miriam H. Shively Osborn; father, Creighton D. Osborn; stepmother, Christa; siblings, Kade and Katlyn; grandparents, Esther Shively and Bruce and Betty Osborn; and many other loving family members and friends. Interment and celebration of Kyle's life will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2012, in Stockwell, Indiana, followed by interment with full military honors.
