Governor Dayton Hosting Student Forum to Discuss Minnesota’s Future

College students from four Duluth-area campuses to participate in Friday's "Conversation with Mark"

ST. PAUL, MN - This Friday, January 24, Governor Mark Dayton will travel to Duluth to host a public forum with college students from four Duluth-area campuses. Starting at 2:00pm, Governor Dayton will be joined by several hundred students from the University of Minnesota Duluth, Lake Superior College, the College of St. Scholastica, and Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College for an interactive conversation focused on Minnesota's future.

At the forum, which is taking place at the University of Minnesota Duluth's Weber Music Hall, Governor Dayton and Higher Education Commissioner Larry Pogemiller will be interviewed by UMD Chancellor Lendley Black. After that brief interview, Governor Dayton, Commissioner Pogemiller, and Duluth-area legislators will take questions from college students on a variety of topics concerning Minnesota's future.

Duluth-area legislators participating in the event include Senate Majority Leader Tom Bakk, state Rep. Tom Huntley, state Rep. Mary Murphy, and state Rep. Erik Simonson. Duluth Mayor Don Ness, Lake Superior College President Patrick Johns, and St. Scholastica President Larry Goodwin will also attend the forum.

Members of the press are encouraged to attend Friday's forum. Governor Dayton will be available to speak with the press immediately following the event.
