Saint Paul - Lieutenant Governor Yvonne Prettner Solon has been re-elected to serve on the Executive Council of the National Lieutenant Governor's Association. Lt. Governor Prettner Solon was re-elected unanimously to serve as the Midwest Region, Democrat-at-Large member of the association. The NLGA held their annual convention last week in Chicago, IL.

"It is an honor to be re-elected to the NLGA Executive Council," Lt. Governor Prettner Solon said. "The conference is an excellent opportunity to collaborate with Lt. Governors from across the country on a broad range of policy issues."

At the conference Lt. Governor Prettner Solon led a panel discussion on options to increase access to healthy food alternatives in low income areas. She also met with the Japanese Consul on trade and economic development and worked with Lt. Governors throughout the Midwest on energy issues.

The committee meets about three times a year and is responsible to chart the course of issues and work to be pursued by the nation's second-highest state and territorial officeholders. The position is a one-year term with Lt. Governor Prettner Solon serving until July of 2013.

NLGA is the professional association for the officeholders first in line of succession to governor in all 50 states and the U.S. territories.
