Governor Dayton Appoints Patricia Alander Aanes and Charles D. Halverson to Fill Ninth Judicial District Vacancies

ST. PAUL, MN – Today, Governor Mark Dayton announced the appointments of Patricia A. Aanes and Charles D. Halverson as District Court Judges in Minnesota’s Ninth Judicial District. Ms. Aanes will be replacing the Honorably David J. Ten Eyck in Crow Wing County, and Mr. Halverson will be replacing the Honorable David F. Harrington in Cass County.

“Throughout their honorable careers serving in both public and private practices, Ms. Patricia Aanes and Mr. Charles Halverson have demonstrated their exceptional commitments to pursuing justice for all Minnesotans,” said Governor Mark Dayton. “I thank them for agreeing to continue their public service, as District Court Judges in Minnesota’s Ninth Judicial District.”
 
Minnesota’s Ninth Judicial District consists of Aitkin, Beltrami, Cass, Clearwater, Crow Wing, Hubbard, Itasca, Kittson, Koochiching, Lake of the Woods, Mahnomen, Marshall, Norman, Pennington, Polk, Red Lake, and Roseau Counties.

About Patricia Alander Aanes:
Ms. Aanes is a solo practitioner at Patricia A. Aanes Attorney at Law , P.L.L.C., where she focuses on family law litigation and mediation. Previously, she was a partner at Erickson & Aanes Law Offices, a partner at Erickson, Pearson & Aanes Law Offices, an associate at Erickson & Pearson Law Offices, and a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Michael Seibel and the Honorable Donald E. Rysavy, Third Judicial District Court Judges. She earned her B.A. from the University of Minnesota, Morris, and her J.D. from the Mitchell Hamline School of Law.
 
Ms. Aanes serves as the Board Chair of Crow Wing County Crime Victim Services and YMCA of the Brainerd Lakes Area and is Vice-Chair of the Brainerd Public Schools Foundation. Ms. Aanes is a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and participates in youth ministry.

About Charles D. Halverson:
Mr. Halverson is a solo practitioner at Halverson Law Office P.A., where he primarily serves as a defense attorney in criminal cases and general counsel for a bail bond company. Additionally, he works as pro-bono counsel in child support, paternity, guardianship, child in need of protection, and civil commitment cases. Previously, he was an assistant public defender at the Ninth Judicial District Public Defender’s Office, an associate attorney at Border, Steinbauer, & Krueger, and a judicial law clerk in the Ninth Judicial District. He earned his B.A. from the University of North Dakota and his J.D. from the Mitchell Hamline School of Law.
 
Mr. Halverson is a member of the Fifteenth District Bar Association and a Certified Criminal Law Specialist.
