Statement on Governor Dayton’s Treatment Decision

ST. PAUL, MN – On Tuesday and Wednesday of last week, Governor Mark Dayton visited Mayo Clinic for scheduled appointments regarding his recent diagnosis of prostate cancer.
 
The following is a statement from Linden Zakula, Deputy Chief of Staff, regarding the Governor’s treatment decision:
 
“Governor Dayton has decided upon a surgical procedure to treat his prostate cancer. That surgery is presently scheduled for 7:00am, on Thursday, March 2nd, at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester.
 
“It is anticipated that Governor Dayton will be under general anesthesia for approximately 2 hours and will remain in the hospital overnight following the surgery. During that day and evening, he will be in constant contact with Lt. Governor Tina Smith and his Senior Staff. He expects to resume his regular schedule on Monday, March 6th.”
