2/25/2016 12:44:26 PM

ST. PAUL, MN – In honor and remembrance of United States Marine Corps Sergeant and Delano, Minnesota resident Dillion J. Semolina, who passed away on January 14, 2016 in service to his country, Governor Mark Dayton has ordered all United States flags and Minnesota flags be flown at half-staff at all state and federal buildings in the State of Minnesota, from sunrise until sunset, on Friday, February 26, 2016.

Sergeant Semolina was born November 22, 1991, and graduated from Delano High School in 2010. He was a dedicated member of the United States Marine Corps, becoming the Company Guide in boot camp and receiving a meritorious promotion to Lance Corporal.

Sergeant Semolina is remebered as compassionate and kind-hearted, and will be missed dearly by his wife Laurie, his parents Mike and Lisa, grandparents, biological father Kevin, sisters Isabella and Celeste, brothers Gregory and Gabriel, aunts, uncles, and several cousins and extended family and friends.

The State of Minnesota recognizes Sergeant Semolina for his dedicated service, and his sacrifice to fellow citizens of Minnesota and the United States of America. All thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and community.

A celebration of Sergeant Semolina's life will be held Friday, February 26, 2016, in Bloomington, Minnesota, followed by interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

At the direction of the Governor, Minnesota flies its flags at half-staff following the death of a Minnesotan killed in the line of duty, on the day of interment.
