Commission on Judicial Selection Recommends Fifth Judicial District Candidates to Governor Dayton

ST. PAUL, MN – The Commission on Judicial Selection announced today it is recommending four candidates to Governor Mark Dayton for consideration to fill the current vacancies in Minnesota’s Fifth Judicial District. These vacancies are created upon the retirements of the Honorable Douglas L. Richards and the Honorable Bradley C. Walker. Judge Richards’ seat will be chambered at Blue Earth in Faribault County and Judge Walker’s seat will be chambered at St. James in Watonwan County.
 
Nicholas Anderson: Mr. Anderson serves as the Cottonwood County Attorney. As county attorney, he is responsible for handling criminal, juvenile delinquency, and child protection matters. Previously, he was a solo practitioner at Nicolas Anderson Law Office and also served as the Assistant Cottonwood County Attorney. Mr. Anderson is the President of the Cottonwood County Law Library, and frequently volunteers with Windom’s National Night Out Program and as a judge for mock trial competitions.
 
Stephen Ferrazzano: Mr. Ferrazzano serves as an Assistant Public Defender on the Public Defender Trial Team. As a trial team attorney, he represents indigent clients in serious felony matters. Additionally, he is currently serving as the Mayor of the City of Tracy. Previously, he was an Assistant Public Defender for the Fifth Judicial District and an Associate Attorney in private practice at Nelson & Van Hon. Mr. Ferrazzano serves on the board of the Sanford Tracy Hospital and the Tracy Economic Development Authority.
 
Stephen Lindee: Mr. Lindee serves as the Watonwan County Attorney. As county attorney, he is responsible for handling criminal, juvenile delinquency, child protection and civil commitment matters. Previously, he was as an Assistant Public Defender for the Fifth Judicial District and was a solo practitioner at Lindee Law Firm LLC. Mr. Lindee is currently serving as the Secretary of the St. James Foundation and is a former member of the Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors.
 
Troy Timmerman: Mr. Timmerman serves as the Faribault County Attorney. As county attorney, he is responsible for handling criminal, civil and child support matters. Previously, he was as an Assistant Public Defender and Managing Attorney for the Fifth Judicial District and in private practice at Wendland Timmerman PA. Mr. Timmerman serves as a volunteer EMT for Blue Earth Ambulance Service and a martial arts instructor and owner of Timmerman Tae Kwon Do.
 
Minnesota’s Fifth Judicial District consists of Blue Earth, Brown, Cottonwood, Faribault, Jackson, Lincoln, Lyon, Martin, Murray, Nicollet, Nobles, Pipestone, Redwood, Rock, and Watonwan Counties.
