Governor Dayton orders flags flown at half-staff in honor of Senator Gary Kubly

3/6/2012 10:14:43 AM

St. Paul, MN - In honor and remembrance of Minnesota State Senator Gary Kubly, Governor Mark Dayton has proclaimed Wednesday, March 7, 2012 "Gary Kubly Day" and has ordered all U.S. flags and Minnesota flags to be flown at half-staff at all state and federal buildings in the State of Minnesota, from sunrise until sunset on Wednesday, March 7, 2012.

Gary Kubly served as a Minnesota State Representative from 1997 to 2003, and as a Minnesota State Senator from 2003 to 2012. During his distinguished legislative career, Senator Gary Kubly was a tireless advocate for the important contributions agriculture makes to Minnesota's economy and its people, and was also a leader on issues concerning rural health care, wind energy, jobs, and education. Among his many legislative accomplishments, Senator Gary Kubly was most proud of his record of reaching out to both sides of the aisle and treating all people with kindness and respect. In addition to serving his state, Senator Kubly also served his country as a member of the United States Air Force.

Governor Dayton plans to attend Senator Kubly's funeral tomorrow, March 7, 2012, in Granite Falls, Minnesota.
