Saint Paul - Governor Tim Pawlenty today signed Executive Order 10-09 providing for assistance in response to recent tornadoes and severe thunderstorms. On June 17th, 2010, heavy rain, tornadoes and strong winds moved across widespread areas of Minnesota. Extreme weather has caused significant property damage and displaced local homeowners and businesses. The Governor’s Emergency Executive Order calls for the Minnesota National Guard to provide public safety assistance to affected local governments. The following is the text of the Governor’s order: EMERGENCY EXECUTIVE ORDER 10-09 PROVIDING FOR ASSISTANCE IN RESPONSE TO TORNADOES AND SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS
1. The Adjutant General of Minnesota order to state active duty on or about June 17, 2010, in the service of the State, such personnel and equipment of the military forces of the State as required to provide assistance and for such a period as necessary. 2. The Adjutant General is authorized to purchase, lease or contract goods or services necessary to accomplish the mission. 3. The cost of subsistence, transportation, fuel, pay and allowances of said individuals shall by defrayed from the general fund of the State, as provided for in Minnesota Statutes 2009, Sections 192.49, 192.52 and 192.54.
